Reggae Sumfest honours Beenie Man
As Reggae Sumfest celebrates 17 eventful years, the promoters have something special planned for the proclaimed King of the Dancehall, Beenie Man. Having been in the entertainment business for the past 30 years, Moses Davis - known to many as Beenie Man - will be honoured this year by the award-winning festival.

Beenie Man
Beenie Man began his music career at age five and has since propelled to both local and international acclaim, playing a huge role in putting dancehall music on the map. His journey to the top has not been an easy one, as he has also been in the spotlight for a number of negative issues. In true form however, he has risen above these obstacles to stand his ground as the "King of the Dancehall".
According to executive director of Summerfest Promotions, Johnny Gourzong, "Beenie Man has grown with us and he's definitely contributed significantly to the success of the festival over the years."
Beenie Man is one of the longest running performers in the business and has been with the reggae festival since 1993. He is also one of the few performers to have performed on two separate nights in the same festival. In 1997, Beenie Man graced the Sumfest stage on Dancehall Night, and then returned on International Night to deliver another performance, including his hit at the time with Chevelle Franklin, Dancehall Queen.
Although the intricate details have not yet been revealed, the celebration promises to be fitting. "Beenie Man has always been an outstanding performer with a consistently good show," exclaimed Gourzong.
See Beenie Man deliver on Dancehall Night in this year's staging of Reggae Sumfest, July 19 - 25 in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
