Nicki Minaj wants to work with Kartel?
It seems that a collaboration between deejay Vybz Kartel and American rapper Nicki Minaj is not out of the question for the near future.
Last Saturday, the rapper, who is known for songs such as Your Love and Bedrock, posted on her official social- networking page twitter.com that she wants to work with the controversial deejay. Minaj tweeted, "I need Vybz Kartel for Pink Friday." Pink Friday is the official name of her debut album, which is scheduled for release on November 23 on the Young Money-Universal Motown label.
ready to work
When contacted by THE STAR, Kartel was unaware of her desire to work with him but was more than ready to work with the rapper. He said, "I would definitely do it. No charge, just work out something in the Rampin' Shop. Although every female artiste wants to collab with the Teacha, for all I know that could be a fake tweet, a prank tweet. If she really want to do di, tell her me deh pon di Gaza."
unofficial collabo
Minaj has worked with Jamaican artistes before, with her unofficial collaboration with Gyptian on the Billboard chart-topping hit Hold Yuh. The remix was popular on youtube.com and garnered a lot of attention. The rapper was in Jamaica earlier this year with Jamaican singer Sean Kingston to shot the video for their song Letting Go (Dutty Love) in Ocho Rios.
In the meantime, the normally media-friendly Vybz Kartel has been quiet in the weeks since his arrest during the state of emergency that was implemented in Kingston after the siege in Tivoli.
According to Kartel, he has been busy in the studio with a number of releases. He said, "I have singles No Lie and Taptada for DJ Kareem, Conscience Set Yuh Free and Making A Baby for Notnice. Plus I just finished the Dream video with Popcaan to premiere this Friday on ER and I am now doing a video for Chrome's Dumpa Truck. Popcaan and Sheba are off to Trinidad on Friday, Gaza Slim just wrecked Tobago and I'll be at Club Jamaica this Saturday with the usual suspects."
