As reggae singer Buju Banton gets ready for his court appearance in a Florida court today, loyal fans are taking to social networking site Facebook to proclaim his innocence and to claim he was framed, CWNN has found. `The batty bwoys dem set up Buju,`

Teddy Matterhorn, a fan wrote on the new Facebook page - `We Support Buju Banton!` - which has surfaced since his arrest last Thursday and which already has close to 8,000 fans.

Pamela Hibbert, added: `Dem did out fi yuh long time true yuh nah support di gay bwoys.`

Others were quick to insist that Banton, born Mark Anthony Myrie, whose year has been marred by protest from gay rights group over his U.S. `Rasta Got Soul` tour, is innocent until proven guilty.

`I ? and support Buju … innocent till proven guilty in the court of law!,` wrote fan Maria. India Sadie agrees, even as she reveals how hurt she is by the singer’s arrest.

`Jah know star, me cyant eat me cyant sleep --me just prayin, prayin, prayin straight fi yah baby; they can't hurt you no more Mark.`

Banton, who recently was nominated for his fourth Grammy nomination in the Best Reggae Album category, for his critically acclaimed Roots Reggae opus, Rasta Got Soul, has insisted through his attorney that he is innocent.

The Associated Press on Tuesday quoted Herbert E. Walker, III as saying in an email that he looks forward to representing Banton in court and that the singer `vigorously denies these allegations.`

But a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration affidavit says Banton and two others traveled to Sarasota last week to purchase five kilos or more of cocaine.

Banton is set to be officially charged in Miami Federal Court today, Wednesday, Dec. 16 on a charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine. If  convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
